21 March 2007 - The first Export Eurofighter Typhoon, AS001 for the Austrian Air Force, takes off for its first flight at EADS Military Air Systemsâ Manching site, Germany. Under the terms of the contract, with German Ministry of Defence will handle all acceptance processes on behalf of Austria, hence the reason the aircraft temporarily has German Air Force markings.
