Agree; while the internal views are limited there’s no sign of the DC functionality one would expect to see.
Well, navalnews uploaded the full length video with plenty of internal shots. Didn't see any DC lockers for one, nor fire fighting equipment.

My post from the AUKUS thread.

Posting this here but will duplicate at the naval news thread as well. No real surprises but it summarises all the issues wrt SSNs (and SSKs) regarding availability. The one very troubling issue for Australia will be supporting first a mixed Collins/Virginia fleet then Virginia/AUKUS to a final all AUKUS fleet. Upon reading this article I now have a better appreciation for why the RCN wants 12 SSKs.

AUKUS submarines: US and UK partners show the realities facing Australia's small fleet - Strategic Analysis Australia

^That's a very tough read. All military kit is getting so technical, expensive and maintenance intensive. Australia's path with 3 different submarine classes is going to be monumentally expensive and possibly doomed to failure when the tax payers raise the white flag.

I appreciate the endurance and speed advantages (and under ice advantage) of SSNs and if Australia could transition into a Virginia fleet, it would be easier albeit probably more expensive than what is planned. The big question is the UK's ability to support AUKUS properly, not a sure thing given the RN's situation these days.

The RAN getting the SSN-AUKUS, will make it cheaper and easier for the RN to get the number of SSNs that they should have. If you add in the USN getting the SSN-AUKUS as the replacement for the Virginia class then it becomes even more of a lay down mazaire (even taking into account the US legislative requirement for USN warships to be built in the US). The RAN SSNs will be the bridge between the US variant (US systems etc) and the UK variant (with the RN preferred systems).

Is the AUKUS SSN what the USN future sub will be orr the SSN (X), WTF that turns put to be?

I thought the USN was still doing its own thing.

I don’t think going all Virginia class is the answer. The Virginia class design is even older then the Astute class, and the US is theoretically going to have its successor starting to enter service at about the same time time as SSN-AUKUS shows up.

Like I said, not sure what the future USN SSN will be. WRT Astute and Virginia age, the latter has several batches so the current blocks have significant improvements.
