What's the hype around the SCAR

Correct me if I'm wrong but what makes the SCAR so special, what makes it so good and why is everyone talking about it?

Personally it looks ugly, I'm yet to hear of an independent performance review and why has the United States Army not taken it up? Isn't that saying something? The largest small arms wielding organization in the US Military has not taken it up, why? Is it because of some unknown reason that we are yet to know about it, say it doesn't perform as well as it is expected.

Prove me wrong please...

I admit that i fail to see the point of looks when it comes to weapons. That the US Army dont field the SCAR is possibly the price. Its quite more expensive than M-16/M-4 carbines.

As concerning performance i tap in the dark as much as anyone. FN do make good weapons and SCAR was obviously the better choice compared to the H&K HK-416, at least according to the buyers. But that might be a question of what they were looking for in a new weapon too.

The HK416 never was in the SCAR-trials, because HK had such high hopes for the XM8... Bad decision...

its a super special peace of SOF kit and it can be altered to fire all the most common ammunition [5.56 NATO, 7.62NATO and Russian calibers which makes it versatile]
