I didn't know Airbus already developed a NEO version of the MRTT. Is this the first order which isn't based anymore on the A330-200?

The Spanish Council of Ministers has approved the budget to replace the current fleet of CN235M and C212 aircraft of the Ejército del Aire y del Espacio with eighteen new C295MW transport aircraft. Deliveries are scheduled between 2026 and 2028.

Yes, this is the first order of an MRTT based on the A330neo.
