Damn, 23 years of incident free from Flankers..

Suspect this one comes fresh from MRO

Also not like how close is civilan infrastructure to the base.
Indeed, more than 20 years without accidents. Extremely rare for Indonesian standard.
Here two videos on Facebook and Twitter.

The drag chute was deployed, and it is unclear if the Su-30 can be repaired or will be written off. But the good thing is that it is highly likely that both pilots survived.

No casualties, and seems clean evacuation of the crews from the cockpit. The fire fighter more colling down the engines exhausts.

Not much talk online on this, as seems it is clean runway overrun and the enthusiasts more interested with whether J-10B/CE will come or not. The runway 13 is closer to highway, but it is also closer to Air Base. This is the older runway on western side of Hasanuddin airport.

The runway overrun happen on the area in the red circle that close to Highway. While the commercial airlines usually use runway 03-21 in front of Airport Terminal. Runway 13 as older one is 2.5 km in length, and Runway 03-21 is 3.2 km.

Well Boeing and US Dept of War apparently still put Indonesia name as F-15EX customer. This despite Boeing previously talk not pursuing marketing to Indonesia for F-15EX and MinDef source talk not pursuing F-15EX on current price package.

The contract also covers Foreign Military Sales to Japan, Israel, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia and Poland.
This definitely increase chatter in Indonesian online enthusiasts and local defense forum and media. Talk about Flankers vs J-10B/CE vs F-15EX. Well the drama continues, and I'm wondering if what come out is just more Rafale and M346FA. Means Euro salesman now laughing while consuming their Baguette and sipping capucino.

The last thing we need is an airshow-airforce.

When it rains, it pours.

Lets see this in a positive way: everybody survived both runway excursions, and both aircrafts seems to be repairable. They could even fix the F-16B with the broken nose.

According to Turkiye media, Indonesia ambassador talk about the latest defense project that on going with Turkiye:
  1. Intention for KAAN and Kizilelma,
  2. 4 Istiff Frigate, 2 build in Turkiye yard, and 2 in Indonesia yard,
  3. JV with Roketsan for missile.
4 Seems going to be the number for each Frigate type. There will be 4 Arrowhead 140 FMP, There are talk of 2nd batch of 2 for PPA, and now seems also 4 Istiff.

As KAAN it is much depend with Turkish engine development. However Kizilelma seems more clear on horizon. Leonardo M346FA and Kizilelma wing man combo seems become big factor on acquiring both.

The last thing we need is an airshow-airforce.
We already is, Flankers, F-16, Hawk, TA-50 and Super Tucano. TNI-AU is already diverse air force. Rafale is the new type, M346FA is Hawk replacement. What being lobby now are for F-16 and Flankers replacement. All this lobby for J-10 B/CE, Su-35, F-15EX, KAAN, KF-21 are for types that going to replace them.

There's still potential F-16 and Flankers in the end being replace also by 2 types. However it still can go to 3 types. All back to availability of type to meet time table, financing packages that meet more with MoF budgets, and Geopolitic and local politics compromises. Right now too many rumours as the marketing lobbies intensifies. For me, all back to money trails. At this moment money trails only talk Rafale and M346FA. Other money trails still rumours and not yet pass MoF.

Land based trials next year, they're looking for nice supercruise capability as well.
Only after that TF35000 turbofan shown ready to be installed, then the condition precedence for Indonesia to activate the contract will kick in. If Tusas (TEI) can finish and begin production within a decade, then it is already big achievement.

That's why I see KAAN is long term project, and even if Prabowo administration got elected for 2nd period, I'm still not sure they can activate contract by 2nd term. Many things politically can happen on KAAN deal before that.

Kizilelma is different thing, it is already operational, using Motorsich license turbofan, and already pairing with MF346FA. Thus Kizilelma with TB3 and Anka will mostly the deal that are going to happen with Turkiye within this period.

nothing will happen...
Will see, as seems the strategy for missile industry going to take two strategy. Republikcorp with Roketsan and Pindad-LEN with China State owned company (rumours Poly Technologies). However all of this means build JV from zero, and it will take time.

Still it can be resulted like when IPTN build SUT torpedoes with kits from AEG. Assembly kits will be mostly going to happen within years to come.

Datalink pod and supporting displays currently being developed by PT Infoglobal.

Kinda meaningless if we don't hav mandatory compatibility with this datalink. Rafale, J-10, Flanker, F-16, KF-21, Kaan should have this installed, ideally not in a podded configuration.

Indonesia MinDef spokesman told media, that despite US still put Indonesia as FMS recipienct for F-15EX, Indonesia has not back on negotiation for F-15EX due to price negotiation not reach agreement yet.

This is just shown how intensive marketing lobby and again geopolitics and local politics factions has backed their own marketing lobby machine. I'm still believe the finance guys can still sort out better choice packages. They are not just people that handle payment, but they also bring sensibility toward all politics backed brokerage that coming in every government procurement, including defense.

Still I got sense after F-16, Flankers and Hawk being retire, TNI-AU still end up with 3 to 4 types of MRCA and LCA.

In 2018, TNI-AU bring one Dutch Hawker Hunter F4 that being left behind in Biak AB in the 60's. They rebuild (off course not to flying condition), but to be representative enough for display in their Museum in Jogjakarta.

Then they put it on display next to Tu-16KS. Nice display as those Hawker Hunter main job (together with Dutch Navy Sea Hawk) is to intercept TU-16KS that have AS/KS-1 anti ship missile specifically procured to face Dutch Carrier Karel Dorman.

Mig-17 should be in adjustcent display site in my opinion. As those TU-16KS will be escort by Mig-17. TNI-AU (AURI that period), will not send their Mig 19 and Mig 21 as those are supposedly guarding Jakarta.

From my understanding TNI-AU will send TU-16KS and IL-28 with Mig 17 as escort for naval surface target, and B-25 and P-51 for groun target.

1. At last some real developments about (the production of) the N219.
2. I wonder how long the customer has to wait for the N219 Amphibious. We still have to wait for the first prototype, the testfilghts and certification.
3. "CN235NG", how "Next Generation" will it be? Like the N245, CN235-330 Phoenix or just some minor improvements?
