The government of India is working to strengthen its defense ties with Bulgaria, officials here said.
Indian Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee and the visiting foreign minister of Bulgaria, Solomon Passy, met here July 29 to discuss defense issues.
A senior Indian Defence Ministry official said July 30 that Bulgaria has promised to make available spare parts for weapons and equipment India bought from the former Soviet Union. India acutely needs spare parts for its Kwadrat and Shilka air defense systems and other key Russian-made weaponry, the official disclosed.
