In a historic first, a Ground-Based Interceptor has knocked a mock ICBM warhead out of the sky. This is a welcome result for the GMD segment of the US missile shield which has had a spotty record that prompted a program pause and reset some years back. If they can string together more successful intercepts to fortify the deterrent effect.
