Where did you get this news on a carrier being built for Russia ??
Their last one sails once a year, the Gorshkov is being transformed into real CV for India, and the only shipyard capable of building the largest aircraft carriers is in the Ukraine !! So I don't think there is a chance Russia will build a carrier at least in the next 10 years.

cheers

Don't use wikipedia for first-hand information. Always, always find credible sources first. Even for basic stuff it can be wrong - the article on PAAMS once said it could launch 6 Aster missiles a second.......

Neither Hazegray. It used to be a good source, but hasn't been updated for 3+ years (with the exception of the USN pages).

On the story regarding the Russians developing a new carrier, I still haven't received an answer to THE key question... where on earth would the Russian build one since the only appropriate shipyard is now in the Ukraine !!

cheers

They are going to build it in the shipyard located on the Volga river of course! lol :D

More seriously, they have first to spend ressources for maintaining their Kuznetsov and Kirov cruiser before engaging other found to build a "supercruiser", and even if they do it, then they have to buy enough Su-33s or Mig-29K...

Happy to read this, I fully agree. One must be able to tell the difference between vague propaganda to prop up superpower status, and practical reality.
