The JSF is planned, Which will bring the RAAF to a all single engine fighter fleet, much debate has gone on in the following threads:

thanks for the info,buddy.

i believe that the australian airforce should look at a bomber variant of the p8,i believe it will be a suitable replacement for the f111 in the bombing role.

Well in first place RAAF would not require a dedicated bomber(unlike other land locked countries).Since it has a geographical advantage(being sorrounded by sea) the only way it can be attcked it is via ships (which can be easily engaged by JSF's and super bugs ,a bomber would be an overkill).

Actually, no. F-111 is a fighter-turned-strike plane, though it carries no air-to-air armament. JH-7, on the other hand, is a strike plane with very limited air-to-air capability (the J actually has little meaning here). And, no, JH-7 does NOT carry PL-12 BVR air to air missile. Its air to air armament is limited to PL-5E. JH-7 only has an EagleEye terrain following radar with limited range and no BVR capability. F-111 is superior in my opinion, even though its more than a decade older than JH-7 and about 3 decades older than the latest JH-7A, which is capable of firing PL-12 due to its JL-10A radar (which has a range of about 100 km against fighters) but is not armed with it and has 2 AL-31 engines giving it more speed but is not a fighter in any sense of the word due to its lack of agility.
Incorrect. The JH-7A version can carry PL-8, PL-11 and PL-12 missiles. Older JH-7s and a second batch of JH-7s are upgraded now with the same radar and avionics suite of the JH-7A. Please note that there are two versions of the JH-7s. The first and original version was those supplied to regiment numbered 81X6X. The second or sometimes referred to as "block 2" are supplied to regiment numbered 82X6X and has the JL-10A radar used on the JH-7A. In addition to that, more of the original JH-7 appeared back at Xian suggesting 81X6X planes underwent an upgrade.

As for agility, the wing design of the JH-7 suggests the plane has good low speed maneuverability and a fast roll.
