China develops small turbofans

China is pursuing small turbofan technology as well as turbojets as power options for long-range cruise missiles. Previously, Chinese long-range cruise missiles have used turbojet technology, as in the HY-4 (C-401) and YJ-82 (C-802) designs, in airframes originally intended for rocket power.

China has been reported to be developing small turbofans for more than a decade. There has been speculation as to the source of Chinese small turbofan technologies. Long-standing unconfirmed reports suggest that Soviet-designed Kh-55SEs (AS-15 'Kent') were imported in the 1990s, along with US cruise missile wrecks. In early 2005, China was reported to have received six Kh-55SE missiles from Ukraine.

well one way kashif is to modify the existing missile by increasing the length and the capacity of the fuel tank,by making the engine more fuel efficient,by using a strap on booster for launch ,thus reducing the fuel consumed during launch or by developing a new cruise missile design.:smash
