I have recently read that 118 Gazelle helicopters operated by the AAC are to be replaced by 20 civilian leased helicopters flown by military crew.
Not been an expert has does this effect the AACs capabilites or are Gazelles already obsolete with Apaches in service and 40 of the new Lynx on order?
To me either the AAC has many helicopters it doesn't need or as I believe this is a down grading in capability. I would have thought the AAC now needs more helicopters as the British army has many more commitments especially in the middle east where hot and high capabilites are required.
