Correction, STRV 122 is not Swiss, its Swedish and is of Leopard 2A6EX standard but without the L55 gun and the new powerpack, besides that is pretty much identical to Leopard 2A6EX (demonstrator tank or latest make)

The STRV 122 is the most advanced Leopard 2 in service, and is one of the most expensive Leos in service aswell. It weigh in at around 69 tons (62,5 metric tons) and the new mine protected STRV 122B is said to weigh around 75 (68 metric tons)./Alex
Thanx Alex, That'll teach me to not double check my posts. I did actually know that it was Swedish, so I have no idea how the Swiss reference got in. I'd just got back from Switzerland at the time, so maybe I just had a brain snap. ;)

I guess that would be a really good reason to write Swiss ;)

In my opinion i think the T-90 is quite overshadowed. It has the ARENA systems that shoots down incomming Anti-Tank Guided Missles, new ERA armour capable of wistanding a direct hit from a depleted uranium APFSDS shell from the M1 (tests done by German scientists).

It uses the standard 125mm cannon but its (in theory) still quite a powerful gun.
Top it of with new fire control systems, day/night sights and balistics computer.

Another research shows that 5 Kornet missles were shot at the T-90 (without ERA) but only 1 managed to penetrate.

I think the T-90 is not bad and really should be more on par with the other leading tanks.

Don't doubt one bit that the russians make good thanks, they did make some great tanks during WW2 as Germany did.

Hello Guys.
I have been reading ur comment regarding Al-Khalid Tank, I don't say that it is the world's best tank but it is one of the world's modern tanks by any means................

The poiint I wanted to make is that Al-khalid was designed specifically for warmer regions. Pakistani terrain is warm and in deserts the temperature easily reaches 50 C and many western tanks don't perform well under these conditons.....
:coffee For pakistanis Al-khalid is the best since they have made it according to their needs keeping their traditional enemy India in mind which is not weak.

Another important point is that we should appreciate that pakistan is a developing country yet it has made a tremendous effort by building a state of art defence machine. Not only this but they have been aggresively marketing their new products in the african and third world countries.

Not in the military equipment pakistan has excelled but also in the aviation field they have done a marvellous job but making JF-17 Thunder with the help of china. These guys are doing great. :)

Ok, I think that the people trying to base their judgement on the poll results while others criticizing the same results should keep in mind that when the poll was conducted; there were many patriots lining up to vote for their country's MBT. No body's fault if there were more Pakistanis than Indians at DT in those long-gone days. So people should take a deep breath, disregard the poll in a way (not entirely though) and enjoy debating.

My vote once again goes to Abrams (over all performance) as the best, although, keeping in mind with my country's demands from its MBT; in an unbiased way, I'd have no regrets over the choice that was made (Al-Khalid).

Mysterious:

For Me the Al-Khalid is No.1 Choice because
  1. it suits my country's weather.
  2. it is a modern tank by any means.
  3. It is cost effective as my country cannot spend lavishly on money eating tanks.
  4. This tank has a very good chance of exports.
  5. it has the ability for future upgrades.
I don't know, but guys of pakistani defence forum are talking about Al-Khalid 2 project which will be far more advance than today's Al-khalid.
