A Chinese Radar has been selected for the initial batch of JF-17s and FC-1s. Pakistan may or may not select a Radar from Italy or France. FC-1s are likely to have Chinese Radars, but their is a competition from Russia and Israel.

how in the name of god is it even possible? Israel offering radars to PAF??
Why not? They sell them to Turkey.

I still wonder wether the MAX SPEED JF 17 thunder is

1.6 MACH OR 1.8 MACH

Can any one tell me which one is correct . I have read in a website that upgraded version of JF 17 has 1.8 MACH
.
the 5th prototype of the thunder has achieved a maximum speed of MACH-2.14

wikipedia is a good source .

Rather different. Turkey is avowedly secular (despite being mainly Muslim), sits the other side of Syria, is inimical to it, is generally viewed with suspicion or dislike by Arab states, for historical reasons, & has a long history of mutually beneficial co-operation with Israel.

Pakistan is an officially Muslim state, founded specifically to provide a homeland for Muslims, has a long tradition of military co-operation with Arab states, & has lent pilots to Arab air forces fighting Israel. It is also one of the two significant enemies of India, which is probably the biggest customer for Israeli weapons.

Now please explain the similarity.

Israel may sell weapon to Pakistan, if Pakistan recognize israel. i remember reading somewhere, when Pakistan cried over the sale of phalcon system to india. The position of israel was that they are ready to sell the same equipment to Pakistan and want friendly relations with the country as both countries dont have anything against eachother.
cant find the link rite now so you are all allowed to regard my post as baseless

The radar is not being offered to Pakistan but China, to be used on PLAAF fleet & the aircrafts sold to Israel friendly countries. Pakistan would have to rely on Chinese radar initially than perhaps shift to European.

Fascinating Stuff

this is all really good with development of the JF-17 and stuff... but i was wondering from strategical point of view that with the induction of Patriot missiles in the Indian millitary, wont the Indians be able to shoot our plane down without any difficulty.

After all the Jf-17 is also a strike fighter, and in todays world havnt we learnt that all out war between countries is hardly possible. Future wars will be fought
in way of tactical covert strikes on enemy territory and since firing a missile is sort of a give away and much too dangerous since it risks open war not to mention the very real possibilty of the enemy assuming a nuclear threat. So we will therefor have to use the JF-17s for these strike mitions(if the nead arises) and hence the possibilty of a JF-17 Vs Patriot Missile.

Not that i mean any disrespect to the men and women who have worked so hard to make this project a success. Can anyone please explain the strategic wisdom behind this programme.

JF-17 is a point defence AC, PAF doctrine is to safegaurd their sky.... so Patriot have little to do here.

On your other pondering......strategic wisdom of development of JF-17, Am still listening that F-22 have 140-0 Kill ratio.........does the wisdom suggest in development/Acquisation of Typhoon, rafale, Sicko-30 by any country for its defence?

pakistan is pressing for the AN/ALQ-184 Electronic Attack Pod which can jam frequenciies.

As of now no indian airdefence is capable enough to shoot down the JF-17.

OMG cannot belive some of these post I am reading from this thread Wikipedia a good source of military information? It is the worst source of military information to be honest. And with the JF-17 achiving Mach 2+ I would like to see some credible information about this otherwise through all my knowledge the JF-17 with its current engine siz can only hit little bit under Mach 2 but not over.

Sorry to say buddy but yes India airforce can shoot down JF-17 despite its jamming pod. India Su30MKI flanker is quite capable of this, despite its shorter engine life than other flankers.

it still need a "eurofighter radar" to be "Avionics will be of the same class as of Eurofighter"

a good radar is desperately needed.

Beats me too on what exaclty he meant by avionics being in the same class as of being on Eurofighter.

He must know of something which we dont. :)

On the sidenote: Pakistan has taken delivery of all 6 JF-17s. Currently, there are 8 JF-17s in Pakistan.

Order of delivery was 2 (last year)+ 3+ 1+ 2 as per Pakdef.

Admin Edit. Text deleted. Get over it. You were pinged because you didn't have a credible source. Read the rules. Now you do. So now you comply. This kind of pithy public commentary serves no purpose except to make you look churlish. Again. READ the RULES

No further debate or comment on Mod actions re this is required. Back to the thread topic.

As of now, PAF has taken delivery of 8 JF-17s which will form an operational squadron by the year end 2008.
