China doesn't need a few more years. They can concentrate their military in the area of conflict and leave the other areas to their paramilitary agencies. Agencies such as their People's Armed Police, Maritime Security Administration, Fishery Administration (Yuzheng), etc:

In other words, there will be over-match. Unless US intervenes.

That's the same rumour mill that said Jiang Zemin had passed away last year? Of course, when he appeared in public, the rumour self-imploded.
