Becoming a MP officer?

Hey all!

I have a few questions about joining either the British, or Canadian Armed Forces and becoming an MP.

First of all, can you directly become a military policeman, or do you have to apply to a Police Force first and then become an MP from there?

What sort of jobs does an MP do? Provide base protection? Prisoner escort? Close-Protection?

Any information you have that you can share would be great.

Thanks, hawky.

What sort of MP do you want to become, in Britain there is the Ministry of Defence Police which is civilian and responsible for security duties, dealing with civilians involved (i.e. wifes and kids) and (I think) some close protection stuff of senior civil servants, the forces then have their own military police forces (i.e. Royal Navy Police) which cover the general policing of these individuals whilst on base, on deployment and in some cases surrounding communities (Most friday/saturday nights when troops are going on the town in places like Aldershot some form of either MOD Police or RCMP people will be supporting the local bobbies).

If it's CF you're talking about, you can choose to become a MP. First you must obtain required score on the aptitude test though. If you have a degree (especially in criminology, criminal justice or sociology), or is in process of getting one, you can even apply to be a commissioned officer.
