I month or two ago I posted a thread that pointed out that in todays world, I believe (and not without some good experience) that the FN Herstal F2000 Assualt rifle is the most effective assualt rifle around, yes it is superior to the current M-16 and the useless XM8.

The XM8 is floundering is has been suspended for present time.

I am pushing the FN F2000 as the U.S army's assualt rifle of the future. It's already been developed and is unparalleled in ergonomics and firepower flexability. In combination with the FN P-90 is would be not only sensible, but amazing.

The XM8 has about 800-850 rpm and the F2000 pulls in at about 750 rpm, but the F2000 has just as much stopping power if not more due to a higher muzzle velocity. Penetrating power at range is what really counts.

The F2000 comes with a better optic sight and is 100% ambidextrous. I've been saying I told you so for a good while now, but yes the F2000 is a truly versatile weapon well suited for the US Army.

I have already respond to your last post about this. Trial and evaluation for this rifle has been carried out in Iraq and Afganistan. The XM-8 is now redesignated as the M-8 and has been in put into operational use. Units under SOCOM are already being issued with the rifle as we speak.

No need to debate this further.
