Hi, my grandmother found this old cap badge of my Grandfather but can't remember which regiment he served with. Can anyone help me with this question. I can see a lion holding a sort of carriage wheel. It's standing on a leek, rose, oak leaf?, and a thistle. Any help would be much appreciated.

Are you certain about it being a UK badge? I just went through ~900 UK badges from ~1914-1960, and did not come across the badge pictured. Additionally, the crown used in a British badge is usually the Tudor Crown (pre-Ascension of Queen Elizabeth II) or the St. Edwards Crown (post-Ascension), and the crown in the badg does not resemble either type of crown.

-Cheers

I was initially thinking colonial due to the lion/dog and the wheel of fortune/life. hence why i thought maybe subcontinent.

Hello
Your badge is a chromed version of the British Railways Cap Badge which is now obsolete. It was called the "Lion & Wheel" badge (obviously).
