WarPac Weapons for Afghan

This thread is to discuss all deliveries of non-NATO weapons for the Afghan Army and police force. Naturally most of these non-NATO standard weapons are ex-WarPac, hence the name of the thread.

Notable cases that I know about include the delivery of 21 Russian Mi-17 helicopters, purchased brand new with US DoD money, from Rosvertol, with many more planned for purchase over the next decade.

Also a total of 194of D-30 howitzers will be refurbished and supplied to the ANA, including 17 of their own, 44 purchased in Ukraine, another 60 have been delivered from Bosnia and Hertzegovina, where the rest will come from is unclear.

Thoughts? Opinions? Other WarPac systems bought for Afghan?

At first i was a bit suprised that the US is supplying Russian helicopters rather than its own, but after looking through those links it does seem the logical choice, the few Afghan pilots that there are trained on Russian helicopters and the Mi-17 was specifically designed for the Afghan theatre. Good move by the US and i would expect that to have done good things for US-Russian relations.
