World War I ended 90 years ago, when the Entente countries and Germany signed a truce on November 11, 1918 in France.Soldiers leaving for the front. From the Photographic and Film Archives of the U.S.S.R.


The war lasted more than four years and claimed over 16 million lives. 1914. A Russian sentry.

The Russian fleet battleship Emperor Pavel I was launched in 1904 and joined the Baltic Fleet in 1912. She took part in World War I and in the Civil War. In September 1920, was decommissioned and remained in Kronstadt. In November 1923, she was scrapped.
