The thread is closed and i wondered if anyone heard about the russian sub found in the Gulf of mexico in 2010 round the same time "Tzar" Putin had the the arctic offensive air flights again... Something that hadent been done since 1989... The close second highest point in the Cold War.

Take a look at the lengthy "That Sneaky Akula" thread for a variety of takes on the report you refer to. The discussion waxes and wanes, but there is some interesting talk about sub hunting capabilities and sub hiding capabilities.

Why thank you. I must say you are one of only a few that would have respect for people online, or at-least it comes across as such. I am going to read it, thank you, but from what you have above, I mean and should have put, CURRENT RUSSIAN ACTIVITY! Because we need to do what we did in the old days with the nuclear powered underwater, listening post between Russian and the bases in the Arctic i believe. we would go back each year to replace it with a new one! The one thing Russia is short on is spending on bases for current classes of ships, so you could def have some underwater - UAV, not even, just something that is attracted to a specific sound, or material and GPS track it the whole way!
I never understood something else either, how come we cant see through the sea from earth... you think a sub would almost be easy to spot if looking at it compared to a large area of land, with distinct displacements over long ranges.... right? Or x-ray style.. idk think it is on the new NRO Sats?
