On september the 1st Pakistan & Israel held their 1st ever public meeting at diplomatic level which shock not only the Arab world but also the rest of the Muslim world.
In past 57 Pakistan & Israel almost had no diplomatic or relationships of any sort. The 1st public coporation between two countries is believe to be was in a tennis match when Pakistan's tennis star Aisamul Haq Qureshi teamed up with Israeli Amir Hadad in a devis cup tournament. The pair upsetted the 11th seeded Rick Leech and Ellis Ferreira & also their respective fellow country men.
Long long ago when Israel failed to accept the UN orders & went ahead with its expensionist policies over Palestine, Pakistan became the 1st non Arab nation to declare the state of Israel as "Illegal existance" & refused to accept Israel. Infact Pakistan felt obliged to send its Air Force pilots to Egypt, Jordon & Syeria during Arab-Israel wars. These pilots had gained kills against the Israelis & when returned home were honored.
After some Arab nations due to their alliance with Soviet Union sides with India (USSR Ally) over the disputed state of Kashmir which has led Pakistan & India to two wars, Pakistan ceased all hostalities towards Israel & pulled its pilots back from Egypt & other Arab nations. But due to its sympathy towards Palestinians & allied relations with Saudi Arabia, Pakistan kept its policy of not to accept the state of Israel.
How ever in 1980s ,during the Soviet-Afghan war, Pakistan & Israel came closer & era of hidden relations begin. Israelis started providing arms to Pakistan for the Afghan militents. During these days the secret relations were off like allies. Because of these secret relations Israel always believed that Pakistan will accept their existance sooner than India but that did not happen.
Even though september-1st meeting was a milestoone & history making, it failed to make Pakistan accept the state of Israel. But tides did turn. Pakistan started welcoming Israeli possitive steps & Israel indirectly removed its support from India over the state of Kashmir saying that both countries should sort out their differences by diplomatic dialogue. Previously Israel had said it will side with India over Kashmir.
With these possitive approached between two nations but on almost similar ideology bring them closer? Can Israel ever become Pakistan's strategic partner specialy in the field of defence where Pakistan's long time ally China is also enjoying support of Israeli defence industry? Will Pakistan & Israel be able to initiate direct diplomatic relations?
