Military engine maintenance

Can anyone with experience of military jet engines tell me how their life is meaured in terms of calculating maintenance? Traditionally this was a set life in hours, where minor or major refurbishment was carried out at various pre-determined periods. However, I know that in civilian use this is measured in 'cycles'. Since an airliner's flight is fairly standard, this can be modelled to a standard but military work would surely require a more complex analysis of stesses on the engine.

Any thoughts? :)

I am sure that military aircraft and engines must comply at some level with minimum FAA requirements, however I am trying to discover the regimes by which military organisations conduct their maintenance. For instance, it now appears that they work in in hours rather than cycles and have certain proceedures depening upon the types of operations in which they're involved.

However, the exact figures are proving quite difficult to come by :)
