Army Service Corps receives tank transporters
PEKAN June 4 - The Army Royal Service Corps Friday took possession of 20 tank transporter semi-trailers in a RM42-million purchase deal with DRB-Hicom Defence Technologies (Deftech) Sdn Bhd here.

Corps Director Col Adzmi Hashim said the deal for 28 of the transporters, worth RM1.5 million each, was part of the development of the Army transport services started in 1996.

"The vehicles are the biggest in the Army inventory in terms of engine, load capacity and size," he said when closing the semi-trailer training and handling course for 40 Corps personnel at the Deftech plant.

He said the transporters, purchased under the Infantry Fighting Vehicle Adnan and PT 91M programmes, were to equip the 3rd Division, 4th Mechanised Brigade and the Driver Training Centre.

Meanwhile, he said the Corps was also undergoing a restructuring process involving platoon organisation, logistics and postings.

In the certificate ceremony, tank transporter platoon leader Lt Johadi Jemaat, 30, from the 4th (Mechanised) Transport Company, Kuantan, was promoted to Transporter Chief, the first posting of the kind in Malaysia.
