NEW DELHI (India): Parliamentary Committee on Defence has suggested that India should go for export of missiles to other countries in order to fill up the idle capacity of the country's defence blue chip PSU Bharat Dynamics limited.

Voicing concern at the components production division of the company, lying idle since March this year, the committee proposed that defence ministry should explore the possibilities of missiles exports.

The Bharat Dynamics

Hyderabad-based Bharat Dynamics produces surface to surface Prithvi and Agni missiles as well ground to air and anti-tank missiles.

India should also go ahead with plans to set up an aerospace command to tap the potential of space technology in futuristic war scenario, the Parliamentary committee recommended.

Emphasizing the immense importance to prepare for countering any threat from outer space, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence has suggested that Air Headquarters must take concrete steps to set up such a space command.

you need an infrastructure first, to effectively command. India does not have a Large scale space programe and it does not have the required space assets to justify spending on a space command centre the last one got turned into Nuke control facility.

While we are not comparing ourselves to NASA, ESA or the Russians, the Indian space programme is pretty big in its own right. Dozens of satellites, communications, Imaging, experimental and one spy satellite has been launched.
India has an extensive and successful launch vehicle capabality to place upto almost a 2 tonne communication satellite into a geo-stationary orbit. Very few countries can do it. India has launched satellites for korea andgermany. In 2006-7 there is talk to send an UN-Manned payload to the moon.
There are even rumours of space based weapons, Laser and directed energy weapons.Israel recently had a launch failure, maybe India and Israel could co-operate in Space Tech, scary thought for some i think.

The defence services are now asking for dedicated military comm sats, and probably they may get it.

For details of Indian space programme pls visit:

some good images by the indian NRSA can be seen :

Off course the real Military grade images would not be public.

So we do not think its premature to talk of Aero-space command. We have to start early to make a mark :smokingc:

In a little way we are co-operating with Israel in space, we are piggybacking their telescope with our own satelite

that was because they were taking an untraditional route and they were overloading there delivery systems, they had to send the Sat against the earths spin, i would imagine they would not share their space tech with any country, its very critical to there security, the US denies them intel time to time so they need a source of Intel that is not shared by any one they want to be independent and no one should blame them for that its common sense.
