In a fictive war scenario in a terrain mixed with urban, wide open and forest areas. Your enemies are mixed equipped some with machine guns some with assault rifles and some with sniper rifles. You are a experienced soldier but your weapon choice is limited to sniper rifle/DMR of your choice (bolt action or compact semi-auto systems like HK G28, L129A1.) Or an Assault rifle of your choice. Which one would you take? The sniper/DMR or assault rifle... And with which weapon do you think are the chances of survival higher? Also maybe based on history?

In a war scenario, an individual would not be 'going to war' by themselves. There are going to be other personnel who are also going to be engaged, other assets (artillery, mortars, tacair, etc.)
Absent all that information, then weapon selection would simply be based on personal preference. As for chances of survival, no way to know or tell since there is just too much information missing.
At this point, I would either suggest providing much more detail for the hypothetical scenario so that it can be firmly grounded in reality, or more likely it would be better to just drop it altogether. The Mods tend to have very little patience for fantasy questions.

Well in desperate resistence cases maybe yes.
I would personally take an assault rifle with an acog scope, this would be the smartest choice because it will provide a decent aim for short and medium distance aiming, also an acceptable rate of fire but actually its true, you won't survive too long out there alone against an army.
