Eurofighter GmbH welcome the decision by the German Government that effectively provides a route forward for contract signature of the Eurofighter Typhoon Supplement 3/Tranche 2 production contract.

Eurofighter, in close collaboration with the Eurofighter Partner Companies, is in detailed discussions with NETMA and the four Partner Nations to finalize a contract that will provide the basis for future production of the Eurofighter Typhoon Weapon System.

Eurofighter Typhoon is now entering service with the Partner Air Forces in Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Tranche 2 is the second production phase of the program that will see delivery of a more capable aircraft that will meet the operational requirements of the Partner Air Forces well in to the 21st Century. At the same time, Tranche 2 represents the aircraft standard that has won significant interest and commitment in the export market. In particular, Austria has signed a contract for 18 aircraft, Greece has endorsed a future Eurofighter procurement and Singapore is evaluating Eurofighter for a Future Fighter program.

Tranche 2 represents a significant capability for both air forces and industry.

The Tranche 2 contract is a key driver in maintaining the integrity of the European industrial supplier base and continuity of Eurofighter production in the four Partner Nations. It is vital that a contract is secured as soon as possible.

Tranche 2 underpins high technology business in more than 400 aerospace companies in Europe. Continuity of the Eurofighter production program is essential to maintain the global competitiveness of our industry and guarantee employment beyond Tranche 1 production.

The Eurofighter program represents some 120,000 direct and indirect jobs across Europe. It is Europe’s largest industrial program representing a direct commitment by partner nations and companies for investment in sustainable technology and the industrial potential of European industry.
