The launch of India's first education satellite Edusat is slated for September 20 on board the Geo-synchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) from the spaceport of Sriharikota.

"The launch window will be open from September 20 to 30," Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation G Madhavan Nair told reporters after delivering the Prof Brahm Prakash Memorial Lecture here.

ISRO officials said if everything goes well, Edusat would be launched on September 20 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), SHAR, Sriharikota, some 80 kms north of Chennai.

The Edusat programme, according to ISRO, is planned to provide a sustainable distance education service in India using advanced space and ground based technology.
