...and with all of the other news-stories over the past year or so since russia has begun Bear exercises/training, forcing other nations to intercept and force-away before they enter their airspace.
how expensive is it to maintain these high-alert crews? ...or are they always on alert anyways, and the costs just come from actually launching the fighters/interceptors (fuel/maintenance/crew costs?).
does Canada operate an IADS in that sector/region?
would it be cheaper/cost-effective in the long run to install an IADS for bomber deterrence versus sending out alert fighters? ... or would simple spiking/targeting from IADS radar not be detterence enough for approaching bombers (even if they are just doing exercises and do not approach their airspace).
