The psychology of combat.

In military combat, why do some feel anxious, while in combat? This is because, the some do not know what is going to happen. This feeling, of not knowing what is going to happen, is all encompassing. It has to do with the performance of the self, pertaining to the soldier, as also to do with unforseen circumstances. How can one combat this negative psychology? By knowing as clearly as possibe, the parameters of the performance of the self, in combat. If you know, exactly how you and your fellow soldiers will react, in a situation, then, there is no uncertainty in what the results of the action will be. One will face, all eventualities with confidence. One may deduce the actions of the enemy, in combat, in relation to one's own actions, then.

Every individual has a difference response to a set of situations. This behaviour depends on the type of personality and the situations or environment one has faced or had to face during childhood & adolescence (since you are talking about soldiers a younger age group) and almost continues into adulthood.

According to a study about 10 to 13 % of individual suffer from some sort of personality disorder and their sense of situational awareness differ so they react differently. And is more common in young adults.Same applies to the soldiers.A threat or an alien situation pushes one's mind to limits. If you are taught to keep it simple and objective oriented as far as possible you can avoid this fear of unseen.
In the end to keep it simple the famous proverb, practice makes a man perfect. If you perfect your basics, you can reduce the fear.
