I would have to say it comes down to the crewmen inside.

They have the same guns, similar systems and seem to have similar preformance.

When the Leo 2 was first coming out, I was very impressed, especialy with the turret. It had a sharply angled mantle, well-sloped sides and a roomy overhang to the rear. It looked like a Tiger with wings.

In order to compete in the tank trials in the 1970s, an AV prototype (Austeer Version) was sent to America. It was a no-frills machine with a box-shaped turret. Imagine my disapointment when this was the tank that the German Army wound up with.

Am I off-base here, Waylander? How does the reality Leo 2 compair with whay it was originaly intended to be?

BTW, what does no-frills mean? The words my dictionary gives me for that sound weird.
