India is going to launch Israeli spy satellite called Techstar. It weighs around 260kgs.The details are considered as Top secret, and the officials are not releasing much details. The launch will be done by the succesfull indian polar satellite launch vehicle.

MUMBAI: India will launch a foreign satellite with a 'top secret' payload in September.

Although officials at the Indian Space Research Organisation are tight-lipped about the nature of the hush-hush mission, information obtained by TOI from other sources suggests that ISRO's proven four-stage Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) will carry an Israeli spy satellite called TechSar, weighing about 260 kg.

The lift-off will be from the space centre at Sriharikota. The launch will mark a crucial milestone in growing Indo-Israeli military ties and there's a likelihood that some of the secret images taken by TechSar will be made available to India.

Developed by the Israeli aircraft industry, it will be Tel Aviv's first satellite with what is known as a synthetic aperture radar (SAR). This will allow the satellite to see objects below which are extremely tiny. SAR is used by moving instruments like satellites over immobile targets and has wide applications in the critical area of remote sensing.

While ISRO officials confirmed the flight to TOI, they, however, maintained it was absolutely classified at this stage. All they would say was that it would be a "dedicated commercial launch for a foreign customer".

.

i just hope that everything goes of smoothly!!

after all isro's record in the recent-past is anything but encouraging.

if some glitches develop in the last minute then it's game over for isro.

this is ISRO's last chance to redeem itself.

You don't give up trolling, do you? It's immaterial to you guys that ISRO had 2 succesfull PSLV launches (including one in which an Italian satellite was launched). ISRO had 12 consecutive successfull launches before last years GSLV failure and 2 more successfull launches since then.

And even if if the launch is successful the satellite might fail. I think Israel's last few spy-sat's have been dying within the first few days in orbit. Egypt however launched it very first spy sat, no problem :D (last year i think) and are planning to launch another one by the end of the year (DesertSat).

No offence, but before posting at least attempt to post something accurate. I believe the Ofeq 7 was launched recently by Israel successfully (using their own launcher). The Ofeq 6 never reached orbit because a failure in the last stage of the launcher a couple of year ago.

As a side note:technically speaking EgyptSat-1 was launched by Ukraine or at least it used a Dnepr1 rocket.

Israel deserves a spy satellite.

Israel deserves a spy satellite.
israel already has spy satellites of the ofeq series.india tried to acquire the ofeq-5 from israel ,but israel was in desperate need of it and hence could not sell it to india ,though they agreed to share the information derived from this satellite,i believe the techsar will compensate for the ofeq-5 and will benefit both india and israel.

Will Israel offer India it's Ofeq technology for cash ofcourse ?

there is a definite possibility, however india is now developing indigenous capability ,india had already launched the tes-1 spy satellite,a more advanced version known as tes-2 is currently under development, india is also developing the risat which is a radar satellite.

india and israel are also carrying out joint research and development in micro and nano satellite technology.

Sorry, I know this thread is about India, but out of curiousity: How far advanced is Pakistan in satellite technology ?

I hear they tried to send a 15Kg satellite some time back.

i believe pakistan had acquired a couple of satellites from a foreign company and launched them through a foreign agency ,i believe those satellites were leo (low eart orbit ) satellites .i think there is a dedicated thread highlighting pakistani space capabilities on this forum which you can refer to.

What on dear earth has Pakistan to do with this, after fighting severe economic problems and sanction trouble finally we are able to pull a miracle- to have a commercial space industry, which in itself is an amazing thing.
As more economic reforms come into our nations policy, this space industry too will give us big bucks considering especially how economically competitive we can be (a well known fact).

Arab countries have shown resentment over this issue and this is delaying the launch of PSLV carrying Israeli sattelite, here is a link:-http://www.idrw.org/2007/11/19/where_is_the_pslv_launch.html
On verge of successful testing the Indigenous cryogenic engine for the full duration of 720 seconds on Nov 15 which forms the upper stage of GSLV and getting ready for the future launch of next GSLV (GSLV-D3) by 2008 using indigenous cryogenic engine, ISRO has been seen shying from answering what happened to the launch of PSLV which was scheduled latter in October this year with the payload of Israeli spy satellite ,it seems that after all the major news media carried out reports of the secret payload on the PSLV was made available in public domain ,Arab countries seems to have protested this move and called up High ranking officials in ministry of external affairs and asked their Ambassadors in India to protest the current agreement between India and Israel ,PSLV launch delays seems to be deliberate geo-political delay other then technical as claimed by some section of ISRO while it seems that both countries are no mood to back down from the current situation and ISRO seems to be looking for some other dates for the launch of the PSLV ,it seems the launch may be delayed till next year

I am really happy with Israel lately. They are improving on the engineering dramatically. Look at the Merkava 4, the Corner shot system, the SU-30MKI's avionics, and the Tavor TAR-21 Assault rifle. And now helping India with spy satellites. Not to mention the new Smart bombs Israel is developing/they look pretty impressive on Future weapons/Weaponolgy and Globalsecurity.org

What is that supposed to mean. You don't even know why i got banned from tanknets. Plus i am still on tanknets/different IP. Just cause i got banned from tanknets doesn't mean anything, whats your point?

Also i want to clear stuff up with Aussie Digger.
Aussie Digger people on tank-net.org knew it was me. I am from Australia and i liked your name. So i used it on a different forum. People already knew who i was, and i canceled that account. So you have nothing to worry about I already cleared that up with tank-net moderators. Reason why i did this public was that i can't send you a message. Thanks

Swerve-
I have done nothing on Defencetalk.com and i got banned for reasons you don't need to know, on Tank-nets.
You don't even know me, and all you saw was the sticky they posted on tank-nets.org
Also i don't want to hear anything, "if i broke rules on this site" cause you got me started, i just clarified the subject.

Hope you understand, and am looking forward to contributing to not a "fussy" site like Tank-nets.
They think they are the end all be all, and that young adults are useless. Totally flatters me, but this is not a rant so i will stop.

Moderators: Only reason i wrote this was to clear things up with Aussie Digger and Swerve, and to people that know me on Tank-nets

You've been permanently banned from Tanknet as both Rossiman & Aussie Digger, for (among other reasons) registering two IDs, & a permanent ban there means permanent. If you're registered under another ID, it's only until they catch you.

I'm not Tanknet staff, but like others, I knew you were going to get banned before it happened. One of the unforgiveable crimes there is re-registering with another ID while suspended, & plenty of people had worked out that you'd done that. One or two challenged you on it. They knew because they worked it out, not because you told them. And people there talk to each other.

I suggest you behave yourself here. No slagging people off, no making stuff up, no lies about what happened elsewhere & no false protestations of innocence. You've already been marked down as someone who behaves badly. If you want to stay, mend your ways. Read the rules & follow them - and try to work out the unwritten rules, & follow them.

BTW, if you think this site isn't "fussy", you're mistaken. It's tightly moderated.

What i mean by fussy is that most tank-netters think there to good/to have discussions with "17 year olds". I know its tightly moderated Aussie Digger sent me a message within 5 minutes of me registering it on tanknet, i was impressed :). Also when i registered "Aussie Digger" i told T19. I behaved myself on Tank-nets and i have "been behaving myself to here" haha. This is Off-topic though so i will stop. Swerve sorry if we got off to a bad start, but i do behave myself. Hope i can have a fresh start on here, considering tank-net has nothing to do with Defencetalk.

I hope to contribute and i plan on (behaving). Sounds like i am 2 again :D, thanks for your understanding.

Wasn't hard for anyone to figure it out. I used the same information i had no desire to "hide anything". I am also the person who doesn't deal with bans lightly. If i get a punishment that i deserve/i deserve it. But in tanknets case, it was ridiculous and i wasn't going to let them get away with it, and being banned on there doesn't mean anything :).Im already back.
