They are being ignored into oblivion. DPRK needs to do something dramatic to get some int'l attention. Besides SK and Japan DPRK is sooo much off the radar, and the failed tests didn't improve on their situation.Izzy1 said:http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/5402018.stm
Calculated move or desperate act?
That is because the upcoming nuke test does not change the status quo on the peninsula. So even with nukes, Li'l Kim has nothing to barter with.Izzy1 said:I have to agree.
This will play into the hands of the new Government in Japan, Article 22 will be a lot easier to adjust with Pyongyang testing.
I can't see China or Russia being too bowled over by such a DPRK move either.
How fun it would be to see North Korea take on Greenpeace!icelord said:Where would they test it, i don't see it happening in the sea of Japan, or in the Yellow sea, way to many fisherman, and if they head into the pacific, always chance someone will get in the road, greenpeace perhaps:ar15 ........ :hippie
Japan certainly has the capability to rapidly develop a nuclear arsenal as well as several advanced methods of delivery. The M-V series of civilian satellite launch vehicles for example, provides Japan with the basis for a potential solid-propellant ICBM system, if she ever chose to deploy such a capability.if/when north korea test their nukes, would japan follow suit and become a nuclear weapon state?
1) Yes.icelord said:With Abe around, i'd see a huge expansion in funding/purchases for the JSDF
As for a nuke, i don't know, hell, they might already have one and just not tell anyone, the japs do like to keep secrets...secret.
Well it would, really. Though they might drop opposition to sanctions or impose some restrictions.fylr71 said:It would not be out of the question if the Chinese did something to initiate regime change.
that will do a whole lot of good when they respond by destroying Seoul.rich said:What we need right now is bunker busting nukes and the will to use them.
Isn't silencing the guns and rockets bombarding Seoul with tactical nukes already part of the response ?radiosilence said:that will do whole lot of good when they respond by destroying Seoul.
the quote was about having the will to use bunker busting nukes.grand danois said:Isn't silencing the guns and rockets bombarding Seoul with tactical nukes already part of the response ?
