Is the USA's decision to aid Syrian Rebels going to cause Russia arm Syria

Just heard that the USA is going to provide active assistance and equipment to the Syrian rebels. Given Russia's connection to Syria, any thoughts on whether this will cause them to actively provide additional assistance?

What sort of assistance ? Is this second hand small arms or credit to acquire weapons from else where or will be Intel and organisation or just enough to put some skin in the game
