Yeah, only those two countries have ASATs. The U.S. also has the capability of shooting them down with chemical lasers.

Russia has ground lasers to shoot down satelites and was in 1980 fireing at your space shutle while passing above Motherland, all incindent was reported in media. Russia also besides using missiles on modifyied Mig-31 to shood down satelites used suicide satelites as where mutch cheaper. Suicide satelites where abandon around 1990 for mutch advanced methods whitch where not specified. China is developing ASAT measures as it is one of theirs top priority (with ICBM) and is currently building ground based lasers.

Can this unit be a surface platform for shkval (in context weight of shkval - 2700 kg) ?
If we consider that Skval are not guided weapons, then launching it from this platform would result in very poor accuracy, because when dropped, the weapon hit the water and lose its bearing.

The F15 could do the same with ASAT missiles. I love those ASAT missiles ....poor satellite though.

U.S. punishes 7 companies for Iran deals

Friday, August 4, 2006; Posted: 2:29 p.m. EDT (18:29 GMT)

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The United States has imposed sanctions against seven companies from Russia, North Korea, India and Cuba for arms deals with Iran, State Department officials said Friday.

The sanctions, which took effect on July 28 and were listed Friday in the Federal Register, fall under the Iran-Syria Non-Proliferation Act, which prohibits transfer of sensitive technology to Tehran or Damascus that could be used for weapons of mass destruction programs.

Officials said two Russian companies, two North Korean companies, two Indian companies and one Cuban company were sanctioned because there was "credible information" they had transferred to Iran equipment and/or technology on export control lists.

Such transfers had the "potential of making material contribution to cruise or ballistic missile systems and weapons of mass destruction programs," one official said.

The sanctions mean that that no U.S. department or agency can provide assistance to the companies, or sell them any weapons, munitions or defense services.

In addition, no new U.S. licenses can be provided to the companies and all existing licenses are suspended.

"The sanctions apply to the specific entities and their successors, sub-units or subsidiaries and not to their respective countries or governments," a State Department official said.

The latest move makes a total of 33 entities sanctioned under the Iran-Syrian Non-Proliferation Act.

nothing surprising, the usual suspects.

This has no sence at all. US impose sanctions upon Robosonoexporst for Tor-M1 delivery to Iran. Tor is defensive weapon and has nothing to do with WMD. US impose sanctions to Sukhoi company but I can not see why niether, perhaps modernization of Iran Su fighters and atack planes. LOL
