With the end of March but a few hours away I have to expect that the recent events in Christchurch have interrupted the normal flow of business from Wellington. One can hope that April may be the month for the release of the DCP.

Or maybe this event will have an impact on the DCP and it is being modified to suit the situation.

Defence acquisitions do not require a Bill before The House per se. They do need Cabinet approval and that is another story. Cabinet has had other issues to deal with like the Christchurch terrorist attacks and it's subsequent ramifications, plus sorting out various messes that some Ministers have made of much vaunted policies. Therefore, Defence not being a high priority portfolio just keeps being pushed further down the to do list. That's my reading of it. Unfortunately we have a govt who are administratively disorganised and have no idea about formulating workable policy, something that they should've been doing during the nine years that they spent in opposition.

Ok, that name is familiar. Ex NZDF, was reportedly in a 'very close' relationship with MP Heather Roy when she was Defence Minister. Had some problem getting a security clearance, if memory serves.

This is why I could never run for political office as I cant deal with a lack of decision making.

Maybe the new Manawanui is bringing the DCP with her as she progresses across ths Pacific?
