Do you have the quantity of those ATGM?

And I have another open question about Starstreak, anyone?
Starstreak for the Army units (TNI-AD). The Army will used them in tandem with Polish made Grom as Rapier replacements.

For AT-5, not much info on that, except it's procured as one package with BVP-2. Those procured before 2004, where Mindef that days less open on procurements. I suspects since the Marines only procured (in total) around 40 BVP-2, the quantity on AT-5 will not differed much from that. Perhaps as inventory around 2 or 3 AT-5 per one BVP-2.

Oh ya?

And what about some news that said the Starstreak can and will be tandem with Oerlikon Sky Shield?

That will be different or the Sky Shield also runs by Army?

Honestly, I haven't heard any official confirmation on starstreak will be operated in tandem with Oerlikon gun. However there are some official news from Mindef and Army that Starstreak will be operated on several Kodam unit especially units that used to operated Rapier.

There are some other talks about that in local forums. However personally I kind treat the defense procurement info in Indonesia rather carefully. There are suspicions in my mind that some news being circulated from some interest parties, to sway procurement decissions toward their 'prefered suppliers'. So unless MoU or contract already being signed, for me it's still an 'intentions' only.

Besides acording to RENSTRA (Defence strategic plan) from Mindef, Shorads mostly will be allocated to Army and some to Marines and Air Force special units. While Renstra still talked about Air Force will be equiped with Medium range SAM. Will that be fullfilled ? Let's wait what happen.

Like Ananda said, the Starstreaks are for the Army.
But i havent seen anywhere information about the amount of missiles or launchers. I also dont know if TNI-AD go to use the LML or the Stormer as a launch platform.

Scorpion for Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo)

From Antara News Agency:
Pangdam: Tank Scorpion Jaga Perbatasan RI-Malaysia - Antara News Kalimantan Timur

With Google Translate:
Balikpapan (East Kalimantan ANTARA) - Commander VI / Mulawarman Maj. Gen. Usman said Dicky Wainal Scorpion tanks will keep the border area between Indonesia and Malaysia along the 1,600 km in the territory of North Borneo and Borneo Barat will be escorted by Scorpion tanks.

"Leopard Tanks remain stationed on the island of Java," said Commander VI / Mulawarman Maj. Gen. Usman Wainal Dicky in Balikpapan on Monday.
In short, this is some kind of confirmation, from what being speculated so far including in this thread, that Leopard 2 MBT will not be stationed outside Java. However, the existing 2 battalion of Scorpion 90 Light Tank, will be moved to Kalimantan, While Leo 2 MBT will replace their place in Java.

This in my mind show that the Army will concentrated the MBT Operations within Java, due to better infrastructure on operating and supporting MBT. Any need for outside Java operations from those MBT will be only conducted temporarily.

Ananda,

In one blog I found about AT-9 Spiral attached on Mi-35 Hind. AT-9 Spiral-2 : Rudal Pelibas Tank Milik Penerbad TNI AD | IndoMiliter
Ahh, AT-9, the Russian Hellfire, Thanks for the info. However besides from local blog, do you have other information on AT-9 ? Since some info talk that what TNI-AD has in their MI-35 is AT-6 and not AT-9. I my self looking on the TNI-AD pictures seems incline to AT-6, since the warhead did not like the AT-9 tandem HEAT ones ,which usually the AT-9 being equipped to MI-24/MI-35. But hey, I'm no expert on that :D

Just like the info on Marines AT-5, seems those Russian missiles on TNI inventory quite sketchy on the info. Russian weapons export seems not mandatory to be open to public information as US weapons export.

Pindad get the order for about 54 Komodo's.

Doesn't know the numbers that have Mistral, since Komodo have 5 varian.
But the news said all the 54 will be place at Arhanud too.

KOSTRAD

The money for Leo2 already signed to disburse by Parliament. So far that's the update can be found on this matter.
Eighth cavalry officers and soldiers from TNI's Cavalry / Army Strategic Reserve Command have completed their armoured instructors course for Leopard 2 in Singapore, using SAF's simulators and Leopard 2s (see this news link in Bahasa Indonesia, here). h/t to LionFlyer

There is limited manuever space in Singapore for armour training, so the training in Singapore can only focus on the basics for commanders (the range in Singapore is too small and only BIS rounds are fired).

See this Mindef video on Leopard 2 commander training in Singapore:

Thanks for the news Saracens!

BTW, end last month and begin this month they have tested the "Sista Hanud Terintegrasi TD-2000B Rudal Meriam", so i tooks that at last the TD-2000B will be taken in use with TNI-AD.

The $35 million contract for the delivery of two TD-2000B systems was signed in begin 2008, "with deliveries completed in 2009". I dont understand why we get these quite cheap, low end Short Range Air Defence Systems in 2013 after more than 5 years....

From angkasa readers website, got picture the operational ceremony of NLAW in TNI-AD. TNI-AD besides NLAW, also already confirming their procurement for Javelin. Kind of interesting while the Army (TNI-AD) focus on western anti tank weapons, the Marines seems focus on getting their man held ATGM from Russia.

Last year there were newsreports about that TNI-AD will get the Starstreak air defence missiles, according to Garuda Militer: Rudal Starstreak Masuk ke Yon Arhanudse Kodam Jaya KODAM X will get them as first.

Later that year in Garuda Militer: Rudal Starstreak Indonesia they told that we get 100 of these Starstreaks in a four-round turret form and on a monopod (i expect they mean the the Lightweight Multiple Launcher variant).

Whats true about this info, and are there more up to date reports about this order?

If anything Pindad Komodo have more French influence then US. See the image below comparing Komodo (frm arc site) with Renault Sherpa. Sherpa is bigger and heavier, but the influence is there.

Pindad have long relationship with French/Renault, even during the 'embargo' time, the raltionship keep open. Pindad already got license for Sherpa, and technical cooperations with Renault is more substantial.

It seems the long awaited 6x6 Tarantula is nearly completed: DEFENSE STUDIES: Production of Tarantula 6x6 has been Completed

There is no information though, whether the early scheme to produce 11 by Doosan and 11 by PT Pindad will be implemented. The problems in Indonesia-South Korea cooperation such as KF-X and ToT of Changbogo submarines make me a little bit pesimistic.
The Cockerill 90 mm turret looks similar to TNI AD Scorpion. Whether they will fill the same role? remains to be seen in the future. Anyhow The Brits forbidden TNI AD to use Scorpion in Aceh, so it is reasonable if they need more "indigenous" vehicle for the same role, while Scorpion only allowed to be used to defend Indonesia against another country not contra-insurgency against rebels.

It is actually the very same gun.

So far, the Scorpion is used by Kostrad. In the future, it was said already that they are intended for the cavalery battalions of Kalimantan. Tarantula as far as I am aware is intended for the Mechanized infantry.
