Use of or useless LGB

We in Sri Lanka too were brainwashed some time back that LGB is good and accurate but luckily we had a little bit of brains to first test them. They were not in the least accurate and the firm blamed the F-7 MB aerials and then the cockpit for interference?!. However, they could not keep up to their promises to correct these errors and we did it our way by changing our tactics and also providing pilots real time target information down loaded by our UAV's. We managed to bomb with dead accuracy after that, as manifested by our taking of Tamil Chelvam inside an Internet Kiosk.
Similarly they tried to dump their deep penetrating bombs (bunker busters) and high cost Spike ER missiles. We dodged their offers.
This is why West is so perturbed by our victories. We did not depend on their off the shelf solutions but maximised the potential in our existing resources. This is what all developing countries should be doing.

Highly agree with that!

We have been doing this for decades, its the only way for countries like ours to keep defense costs down.

If you look at the track record of the helicopters and other air crafts in service in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, you can really see just how good and ingenious our maintenance crews are.

Also in my opinion, Chinese and Russian weaponry are the best solution for most of the defence needs of developing countries- they are cheap, easy and cheap to maintain, are mostly well proven systems and get the job done well.

Also China doesn't really mind, if we tinker with their systems after we have bough them, as far as they are concerned, once you have bought it, its yours and you can do what ever the hell you want with it, and I love that attitude.

Navy: 2 Frigates - Jiangwei I, 2 Submarine - Unknown , Cutter - Hamilton class / USCG Dallas, 2 Maritime Patrol Aircraft - RUAG Dornier Do. 228NG

Air force: 16 Multirole Fighters - F-7BGI, 16 Multirole Fighter Aircraft - Su-30MK2/MiG-29SMT), 16 Advanced Jet Trainer - Yak-130, 16 Basic Turoprop Trainers - Yak-152, 3 Medium Helicopters - Mi-171Sh, 2 3D Radar - YLC-2

Also apparently the MBT-2000 deal included an overhaul and spare part manufacturing factory, this sort of explains the high price of the deal.

Glad to hear that all praise due Allah G-d. Hasn't heard to much on the Bangladesh Armed Forces. I knew they had older equipment in there in the 80's. One main thing to do to get your military modernize is make education the key. Bangladesh Armed Forces trying to modernize its with forces with limited money. Bangladesh has made some wise choices so far.

BAF getting multibillion taka revamp

Proress also has been made with the nuclear power plants, a financial agreement with Russia has been signed, Russia will fund 85% of the cost of bulding two 1000 MW nuclear powerplants. This really is a milestone.

Bangladesh-Russia relationship is on the rise I just hope we can conclude the air craft deals quickly and earnestly hope that relations won't go south if the current Govt in BD changes in the next election.
