Arrgh, I hate you for having armor magazines in the US and elsewhere. My budget doesn't allow me to import all the interesting ones because I want to eat as much as always. ;) :D

Whatevers on show, you would think with an Army Base one way, and RAAF base the other, the pickings would be good. By looks of everyone elses post i'm missing out!
Defender is always a good read on our diggers and their deployment, be better if the Editor would realise when hes being shot at by RPG:rolleyes:
Contact has some interesting articles and covers the things Defender skips, plus covers all Services unlike others.
Defence Today can be good now and then, but tends not too get too involved in some stories
Navy League Mag has articles by Ex-RAN and its Falklands commemeration was a good read, for someone like me who knew bugger all bout the conflict it was a whole new thing.
Navy Magazine to keep me up to date for service(its as close to civilian info as you get)

I use a website to get to my magazines. If you go to Defense Media Network and look on the right hand side where it says View all Publications, they have all of their magazines available online. It actually is the magazine, you actually flip through it as if you are reading a magazine. They cover all areas including army, navy, coast guard, homeland security, aerospace, and have a separate magazine for each individual category. You may have to sign up to view the publication, but sign up is free and took me about 15 seconds. I'd recommend it.

On another note thank you for opening this post, I looked into a bunch of these and found quite a few that I really loved. Thanks guys!

While not a military magazine, I highly recommend people to read November's issue of Time magazine. It's a special edition which printed the book written by Jim Frederick and Bob Kerrey, covering the topic of US special operations community. The details on the Operation Neptune and Intelligence Support Activity were especially great read, since you can't find much of those anywhere else.

Through most of my adult life I have found the Air Force Magazine, published by the Air Force Association to be very fair, well written and honest, doing a great deal to increase my situational awareness and helping me to check six. I have also found the Airforce and Army Times to have these same qualities as well as being a little more timely. Janes All The Worlds Aircraft and All The Worlds Ships are also beyond informative, with sound anecdotal observations to back up the positions and performance data:rwb

What do you guys think about Soldier Of Fortune ?

Some of it's articles have a very light political undertone/bias sometimes, but otherwise it's the most truthful, non-BS, non-PC military/law-enforcement magazine out there.

Very interesting articles and excellent info on weapons & equipment.

I use to buy it in the 1980's when it had articles about Cambodia, Burma and Afghanistan. I don't buy it anymore as I think it offers a very U.S. centric right wing opinion on things. IMO a much better and slightly different magazine is 'Combat and Survival , its a British magazine.

well I no longer get Av Week S&T since the management demonstrated a lack of ability to manage some of their editorial staffs anger management issues - despite the fact that we can get it for nothing.

damn shame as it used to be a decent mag

I like Defence Today for it's outstanding display of Techno-Strategic thinking every other month...

Does AG still write for magazines, as I haven’t come across any of his articles for a long time, always found them very interesting and very well researched.

I occasionally read a Brazilian magazine called "Tecnologia e Defesa" (Technology & Defence). I say "occasionally" because it's not available by subscription, it's only published every three months and the local shops stock it intermittently and in small numbers! Nevertheless, it is interesting and provides good coverage of one of the world's bigger arms producers.

Lol - I must admit that I use to buy that magazine for the occasional read but then since I've joined this forum, Carlo Kopp's name has been tossed about in not so flattering light, so I decide to stop reading it.

I still enjoy reading Contact Air, Land and Sea and Australia and NZ Defender Magazine. I don't agree with the rather right wing views of the Defender magazine but the pictures are always good.
