Thanks guys, except some notification that HQ-9 missiles is Chinese domestic design derived from S-300 and Type 52-C used active phased array radar design by Chinese with some help from Ukraine, there's little else that can be found reliable enough (not mentioning some fan boys fantasy) on the exact capabilities of Type 52-C systems as matured escort for current conditions that a CG will faced.

Lattest evolution of Aegis and SM-3 in the Burke's already make them even as reliable ABM system, just wandering if the Chinese has anything that close to that as escort system.

From outward appearances it would certainly LOOK like that is their mission. They certainly have plenty of potential escorts to easily form one carrier battle group around the x-Varyag.

Now efficiently operating combat aircraft from her; that should be interesting, but no doubt they will learn how to do it. DFO ;)

and the US green, and the US pale blue, and the US black model. Basically she's abandoned the Russian concept of the RMA and is modelling the US across a number of areas. In fact one could argue that she's modernised Truman/Eisenhowers model of maximising the benefits of a strong economy by building up infrastructure (national highways, rail, civil air training) and spending on the military while the good times last.
Can you explain what the US green, US pale blue, and US black model is?
What is the Russian concept of the RMA?

The help from Ukrainians is probably over stated. I think they probably got more help from Israelis than Ukrainians in active phased array radar design. They do a naval BMD system in development, but it has yet to be deployed on any ship. I'd imagine the current 052Cs don't have the power requirements to carry the BMD sensors. We'd have to wait a couple of more years to see the next gen of PLAN DDG to come out.

Thanks tp for more info on 52C. Like I said before, now seems the hype on Chinese CG more talk on the capabilities of ex-Varyag in the PLAN hand plus the Air-Inventory on the carrier. However USN CG basically become a force right now not only for the air-wing but also for the capabilities of the escort. Something that USN learn hard way on the Pacific theater in WW 2 that without sufficient capable escort, even if you have state of the art Air-Wing in the deck, the vulnerability of the CG will increase significantly.

Type 052C is the best bet PLAN has right now as capable escort for CG. But seems they still need to work harder to prepared suitable escort that can match USN CG escorts.

If you take USN as the benchmark, then no other country has enough CG escort ships.

USN did not have Aleigh Burke to start their CG fleets many decades ago. PLAN will need to start from somewhere, it's impossible for them to reach USN's level in their first round of CG building.

Put it this way, criticising PLAN's first CG fleet not reaching USN's level is similar to china fan boys' dreaming. It's not going to happen, not matter you want to dream or criticise on the issue.

IMO, anyone with eyes can see the PLAN is building a balanced blue water, power projection Fleet. Are they there yet, no? Are they stopping: NO! DFO

I have taken a look at an spanish forum and they have posted there that There some work on the shi-lang. It seems they are installing some ind of tubes similar to those of the steam catapults used by french and american carriers.

I will try to get the pics but it certainly could change the equation very importantly if the chinese install cats in the shi-lang.

that installation might be a part or arrested recovery, as the only publically carrier borne fighter of PLAN is the j-15 which certainly looks like a stobar aircraft as of now. notice the difference in landing gear of super hornet and j-15

That shot of flight deck with "opening" appears to be about at right angle to deck: probably arresting gear?

Given the numerous close in weapon systems now installed, does anyone really believe this carrier will ONLY be for "research"?? Training to learn how to operate a CV battle group no doubt, but eventually I'd wager she will be the carrier at the heart of the PLAN's first carrier battle group. DFO ;)

I have my doubts about the availability of both Vikramaditya and Shi Lang, I believe they would be the heart of a second rung battle groups.

Who says I'm criticizing PLAN CG ?? Please read my posts better before you accuse someone on criticism or playing troll like usual fan boys.

I merely point out that to get effective PLAN CG not only have to be equipped with reliable air wing but also with reliable Escort. Since when talking on PLAN CG much posts in here talk more on the capability of the carrier and Air wing, but seldom talk about PLAN capabilities right now to offered reliable escort on the PLAN CG.

Thus as much as PLAN fan boys dream, China still need a lot to make reliable CG on the sea. But this not hindered the fact that China/PLAN do make remarkable progress on their effort to create reliable CG.

In short, I'm merely asking how's the capability of 052C as reliable CG escort, since that's the best PLAN got right now for reliable CG escort. The answered I think (from several posts that reply my post), that 052C is reliable enough for CG escort except if facing USN CG's and the escort (Burke's and Tico's)

For that I merely comment then PLAN still need a lot of catching to do if their CG can be comparable to CG with USN. This not criticism or trolling, but merely stated the fact that despite the progress, PLAN need to work with multiple factors including developing mores suitable escort for their plan CG.

China launches 1st of Class 056 Corvette

China has launched the first of its new 056 Corvettes from Hudong Ship yard with at least another 3 in construction there and other locations.

This ship has been put together in just a few months and it is anticipated that the class is now in rapid serial production as it seems to incorporate proven systems utilised by the 054 series Frigates.

IT seems likely that at least 50 of these ships or varients thereof will be built over the next few years and will replace the old 037 series.

There is a general consensus that there will be 4 of these ships in the water by the end of August.
The following pic was taken in Hudong a few days ago just before the launch of the the 1st ship and you see that her sister is half built beside her.
