Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) , of 1 Royal Anglian, with the SA80 A2. Service personnel drawn from across the Armed Forces have taken part in a gruelling military exercise in the deserts of Southern Oman. The exercise, conducted by the Army s Infantry Trials and Development Unit, was laid on to demonstrate the capabilities of the SA80 A2 rifle. The soldiers, sailors and airmen put the rifle through its paces in temperatures of up to 52 degrees, and in swirling dust storms. They took part in a series of Battlefield Missions designed to closely simulate desert war conditions. The demonstrations proved that, with correct handling, maintenance and lubrication, the SA80 A2 is a reliable weapon system even in dry and dusty desert conditions.
