USAF E-8C Joint STARS Command & Control Aircraft

E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System - airborne battle management, command and control, intelligence, surveillance & reconnaissance platform. Modified Boeing 707-300 airframe with canoe-shaped radome under forward fuselage that houses 24-foot long, side-looking phased array antenna. Gathers & displays detailed battlefield information on ground forces with 120-degree field of view covering nearly 19,305 square miles (50,000 square kilometers). Capable of detecting targets at over 155 miles (250 kilometers). Air show static display. Aviation Nation, Nellis AFB, November 2007.
