ELMENDORF AFB, Alaska -- A crew chief with the 1st Fighter Wing, Langley Air Force Base, Va., directs an F-22A Raptor as it taxis down the runway after completion of its mission during exercise Northern Edge 2006. Exercise Northern Edge, which runs June 5-16, is one of a series of U.S. Pacific Command exercises in 2006 that prepare joint forces to respond to crises in the Asian Pacific region. The exercise will sharpen skills; practice operations, techniques and procedures; improve command, control and communication relationships; and develop interoperable plans and programs.
