Population Demographics, strategic conquences

A very basic article that seems intent on comparing Russia to North Korea. The author likely has an agenda, given how he has not provided any demographic statistics, nor has done anything to demonstrate the relationship between shrinking population and nation-state behavior other then a few questionable anecdotes. He also ignores that in the case of Russia and Ukraine, Russia has drastically slowed their population decline through migration, and through government aid programs to mothers, while Ukraine's population continues to plummet. In fact there are currently no reliable figures on the population of Ukraine as the last census occurred in 2001, and the government figures are thoroughly unreliable. As for the articles attempts to talk about DPRK population trends... as if any independently verifiable statistics exist...

If one wants to talk about the impact of demographics, and their potential for creating conflict, he's missing vital examples around the Caucuses, and hasn't said anything about Eastern Europe.
