North Korean troops fire into South Korea reports - Channel NewsAsia

North Korean troops fired across the border into South Korean territory on Friday, media reports said.

YTN television said the shooting occurred in Hwacheon, about 90 km (56 miles) northeast of Seoul. Yonhap news agency said the firing was in the direction of a South Korean military unit.

The South's military said it was checking the reports.

Sounds pretty routine for the DMZ, I am surprised it made the news. Not only does the north enjoy taking occasional pot shots at the UN and SK forces in the south but they will occasionally do something really provocative, like shoot down an aircraft, seize or sink a naval vessel, infiltrate the south with commandos, or hack to death UN personnel with an axe. Most of the time the UN or the South responds with a show of force and the North backs down. Most of the time these incidents hardly make the news, after all the Korean War is not over only a 60 year armistice is in place.
