DUBAI -- India has been marketing a range of air platforms to Gulf Cooperation Council states.

The state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd., has focused its efforts to sell the Dhruv advanced light helicopter to Gulf Arab states. HAL has exhibited the Dhruv at the Dubai-2003 aerospace show and briefed GCC and other states on the platform.

Executives said South Africa has expressed interest in the Dhruv. They said several other HAL platforms were also discussed with prospective clients.

"We had discussions with several potential buyers at the show," HAL general manager A. Mohan said. "Looking at the aviation scenario in the region and at the products and services and the feedback we have got from Dubai 2003, we feel there is tremendous scope for us to look at Dubai optimistically as well as the region."

United States Customs To Buy Indian Alh Dhruv 12/4/2003 6:54:48 AM
US to acquire 'Dhruv' from HAL - marketed by IAI Israel
=====================================================

Tel Aviv, Nov. 25. (UNI): US Customs will acquire Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) 'Dhruv', which recently received the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) certification, with Israeli mediation.

Sources here said the deal with US Customs, which has been almost finalised, was agreed upon during the recent visit of Hindustan Aeronautical Limited (HAL) Chairman and Managing Director, N R Mohanty, to America.

Director of Corporate Planning and Marketing of HAL, Durga Charan Das, currently on a visit to Israel as a part of the 20-member defence delegation under the banner of National Committee on Defence of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), said, "we have strategic alliance with our Israeli counterpart, Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI), and we are cooperating in marketing of ALH and advanced avionics, maintenace of UAVs and in making cargo conversion kit for Boeing 737 aircraft.

Given the marketing skills of the Israeli side, we are also taking their help in selling our products outside."

The delegation led by Atul Kirloskar, Chairman of CII's National Committee on Defence and Chairman and Managing Director of Kirloskar oil engines, includes representatives of major Indian companies like Bharat Heavy Electricals, Larsen and Toubro, Mahindra and Mahindra, Tata Power, Tata Consultancy Services, Greaves and Bharat Forge, are touring Israel to forge alliances with Israeli companies at the invitation of Israeli Export and International Cooperation Institute (IEAICI) and Indian Embassy.

Unfortunately an internal memo, so no link available

There was also a posting in http://www.helicopters.com/ but I can't find the link now. (US Source)

There was also a link in Nov/Dec with Israeli Aircraft Industries - but its not on their site anymore - or I can't see it.

So, if we can all settle down now. The issue is posting a link that we can refer to. Its an individual judgement call if someone chooses to accept or deny the validity of that link.
