Because I love wargames here's a new one.
But first we need some key players.

So, we'll first need someone to declare for these:
I will be playing for the US troops.
We need a KLA leader.
We need a Serbian leader.
We need a Russian Leader.
Other players can declare their faction and join in. Keep it realistic.

Nukes are not playable. Mostly because the use of nukes would likely result ina full scale nuclear war. And that would end human existence, arguably. So no nukes.

Other than that, any moves are legal. Please try and make your moves logical, as well as realistically attainable for your country/faction.

Please respond with your country before we get started.

well, seeing as you are the only one thus far responding, go for it.

by the way, make sure to research your military and country to find out capabilities, placement, current deployment etc.

I'll be KLA/whatever Kosovo's new armed forces will be called. Capabilities might be a problem though. I mean no one really knows for sure.

Also what about EU/other nato forces?

Thanks Kilo.

And we need a Russia.

You don't have to be spot on with your assessments. Just don't say: "I invade cuba with my 15 million man Mongolian Army based in Haiti."

That'd be stupid.

And other members can join in with new, real-world forces if they'd like. And you don't HAVE to be a military power. You can be the Peace Corps or something. And the war doesn't have to only be between these nations. I want this to be as realistic as possible. So if this conflict emboldens the turks to invade Iraq while the US is otherwise occupied, someone jump in and take control of that.

For now, ill make a move:

America, fearing a potential bloodbath with the new indipendence of Kosovo, deploys 5,000 army troops, 1,000 marine troops, and 24 F-22 jets to the region to back up the 4,000 troops already there. In addition, they begin to move 2 Aircraft Carriers to the region, as well as 4 destroyers. Unknown submarines may be operating in the area.

As of yet, no steps towards conflict are emerging, and this is not a threat to Russia or serbia, but an attempt at heading off and preventing fighting between Serbia and Kosovo.

*Air and Land forces in Kraljevo, Aleksinac, and Nis are put at high alert.*

Tadic (Serbian President) publicly denounces the American movement of Forces to the Region, labels them a power play.

America immediately has a press release, saying that the move to reinforce Kosovo is not a sign of aggression towards Serbia. The troops are there to see this independence to a peaceful conclusion. However, any Serbian aggression towards Kosovo or its America occupiers will be met with the full might of Americas military capability.

18,000 more troops, including 6,000 more marines, are moved into northern Kosovo, just southwest of the Kapaonik mountains, leaving roughly 8,000 troops, including 3,000 marines, in southern Kosovo, defending two military Air strips and 3 military bases on the White Prin river. 4,000 troops are left in Pristina to guard the Parliament and President Fatmir Sejidu.

The two Carrier Groups, CSG-11, composed of the USS Nimitz along with Carrier Air Wing 11 and 5 Destroyer escorts, and CSG 8, with the USS Dwight D Eisenhower, Carrier Air Wing 7, 1 Guided Missile Cruiser, 2 Guided Missile Destroyers and a Fast-Attack Submarine, are deployed in the Adriatic Sea.

18 more F-22s are deployed in northern Kosovo, at a temporary forward Airbase west of the Kapaoniks.

The point is to have a shooting war. Otherwise it would be called a peace game.

The fun part is to see how the war plays out, what new elements pop up, other countries that might join in, and other wars that might break out accross the globe.

That's what makes it fun. Just cause I'm the "biggest" country on the block doesn't in any way mean ill end up on top. I could get double teamed by China and Russia, or China could take advantage of Russias distraction and attack them from the south. There are many possibilities, and I only win in MOST of them ;)

Serbia vs the US in a shooting war means serbia looses bigtime, practiaclly any (realitic) way you look at it. Therefore having the US play such a assertive role means the options for the game are rather limited.

Why not, for arguments sake, make it so the US only applies economic and diplomatic pressure, and have the players represent the local powers? Such a scenario would be much more ineteresting.

That does sound like fun, actually.

Okay, I revoke my move.

Restart.

I will still be US.

But ill just monitor for now.

Ill decide the outcome of events.

So we have a serbia and a Kosovo.

Continue.

Okay.

Move:

America withdraws all but a few hundred troops from Kosovo into nearby Albania. 200 troops are left stationed in the Capital.

This show of Anerica's lack of resolve gives an opening to a new player; Germany. Two squadrons of Luftwaffe ground-attack aircraft (Tornados) suddenly appear at bases in friendly Croatia. Two fast transports depart Bremen loaded with tanks and heavy artillery, escorted by three destroyers.

At the same time, the German ambassidor informs the Kosovo Government that 2,000 paratroops are just hours away. All you have to do is ask, and you will have a firm Ally.

Your move, KLA.

Move:

America, having been blindsided by the German show of force moves CSG-11 (see earlier post) into the Adriatic Sea, off the coast of Albania to cut off the German Forces. They emphasize that this is not a hostile act towards Germany, but a preventative measure to keep the Kosovo/Serbian conflict from escalating due to foreign power plays.

Reserve troops are mobolized and are heading for newly constructed temporary bases in Montenegro, a move which cost America several hundred million dollars in Bonds.

Yes, KLA and Serbia need to participate...

NATO denounces the open hostilities coming from Russia, and the threat to attack Germany. Despite US reluctance of being dragged into another major conflict, NATO members overwhelmingly agree to put their forces on high alert. Dozens of squadrons of fighter jets from the various NATO countries are flown to Italy, Hungary, Croatia, and Bulgaria, and warnings are issued to Russia to act with restraint and withdraw its forces from Serbia.

The US embassador to Kosovo announces the US's intention to reenter Kosovo, in force. 4,000 troops are moved from Montenegro into north-eastern Kosovo. A temporary air field is established.

At the same time, America, fearing that other countries will use this as an opening to make their own power plays, sends envoys to China, Japan, and India to ask for their help in this conflict.
