There were talks earlier this year with a number of neighboring nations (mostly Czechs and Swiss officially, Benelux states and Austria less officially) on turning that squadron into a jointly operated multinational squadron, with no one really "biting" so far. The budget committee decided in June to field the investment for taking that squadron into operation at a new, second base anyway.

And now among the hints at - German/French/Italian/Spanish - projects on the so far confidential PESCO list a "multinational air transport squadron" is popping up.
