* Test offered in eight cities

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has started the Pakistan Army on-line recruitment test for the 114th long course of the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA).

The test is taking place in eight major cities where candidates can appeared for the entry test, according to a press release issued by NADRA on Saturday.

The online tests are being held at NADRA’s provincial and regional headquarters in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Sukker, Sargodha, Multan and NSRC Gilgit. The tests are for commissioned officers for the Pakistan Military Academy.

To maintain the secrecy of the questionnaire, it has been developed in encrypted format, readable by special software. The test was prepared by PMA and NADRA’s engineers developed the software.

Every candidate must sit at a computer and select the right answer from the given options. The time remaining to complete the test is constantly displayed on the screen and the candidate has the option of skipping a question and coming back to it later. The result is displayed to the candidate at the end of the test.

The online test has the advantages of fairness and transparency. Chances of foul play are limited.

The results of the previous test, which was held in September 2003, proved that the selection procedure helped select suitable candidates, said the press release.

Other organisations in Pakistan are also interested in taking advantage of the on-line testing system and NADRA intends to use this system in other selection processes.

Because of its transparency, the on-line test was recently adopted by the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) and the Army Medical Corps of the Pakistan Army.
