The big advantage of this is the increased rate of fire but I wonder if this is more of a gimmick since it also increases the cost, weight and maintenance of the vehicle.

Well the prototype was completed in 2006 based on a 2S19 chassis and modified turret and firing system. The final product was supposed to use the object 195 chassis, and a redesigned firing system, with the crew (2 of them) seated in separated armored compartments. Perhaps something will come of it afterall.

Oh crap, this post reminds me. Does anyone know the name of this Prussian LIGHT artillery piece, it has two barrels, and acts sort of as a mortar, i saw it in a Russian movie called "GROZOVYE VOROTA" (Amazing movie about Chechnya) Anyway, i don't know what its called. Its almost like the one this thread is about except its stationary. I hope i didn't get to off topic

Pretty mediocre movie. Though Russian movie industry has been pretty bad lately. So it's not that bad of a film. I prefer Chistilische (Читсилище). It's my absolutely favorite war movie of all time.

I have no idea what the dispersion rate on the double-barrels is, in regards to the Coalition-SV. It's pretty low for the ZU-23-2, but then again that's not an artillery piece, it's a direct fire automatic cannon.
