Hi Folks,

Welcome to our new website, Global Talk Networks.com (GTN). GTN is now online and as you can see it's pretty much empty but we sure hope to add more stuff in coming days and turn this into a full-of-life community! We hope you will participate and be part of our greater community as you are on
http://www.defencetalk.com.

Idea was to create "talk" website networks for various topics such as world affairs, history and technology talk but due to administrative overhead with managing multiple website, it was decided to make a global [non-military] talk website where visitors can discuss wide variety of topics in areas mentioned above.

So, far you can reach various parts of the forum/website by typing these special URLs:
  1. http://www.worldaffairstalk.info - World Affairs Talk (WAT)
  2. http://www.historytalk.info - History Talk (HT)
  3. http://www.techntalk.info - Tech Talk (TT)
  4. http://www.defencetalk.info - Defence Talk (DT)
All part of the Network now, that is Global Talk Networks.com. Also, please note that ALL DefenceTalk.com members registered on or before june 2nd, 2005 can post on all websites mentioned above. You do not need to re-register if you already have (on or before june 2nd, 2005).

DefenceTalk.com/.info well known to everyone and GTN was created to offer an alternative to defence and military discussions that take place on DefenceTalk. This will enable our members and visitors to discuss non-defence topics in same friendly and peaceful atmosphere as we offer here on Defence Talk. I hope you guys will enjoy this and take full advatage of this new website/forums that deal with topics other than military and defence. Members from defencetalk.com can post on this website as well (all 4195 of them as of june, 2nd 2005).

Please let us know if you have any suggestions or comments to improve website experience.

Post all your comments in the linked thread.

Thanks and Enjoy!

Well, .info is new but defencetalk.com is also there.

Anyway, go up there to GTN and post away... I would like to see non defence material flying all over the place. Tech Talk? :D

Here is what our future plans are for this whole "network."

  1. One central login for all the sites, including defencetalk.com and other that may be build. (either there will be an open source solution or we will invest money to have it custom built for our requirements)
  2. Central Content Management System - this will enable each site to have an option to share content or keep content completely saperate. Each domain name will be a website on its own while keeping it's contact with the rest of the "network."
  3. Central Chat Room (voice and video integrated into the website and users will be able to login using their existing usernames, etc.) This will also be fully moderated so chance of any misadventures by "the BUU" group are gone.
  4. Any other suggestions from the users? Anyone? Hello? :)

Political threads from DT have been moved to Global Talk Networks.com Forums. (GTN Forums).

Users registered june 8th 2005 and BEFORE should be able to post as well. It's all coming alive!

Anybody registered on or before June 9th, 2005 can post on either of the site. Anyone registering after that date will need to register on both sites to be able to post on either one of them. This will change when integration solution is available... sorry. :(

Chat (text, voice and video) is planned but not anytime soon. It will cost money and don't have enough to cover the cost. Plus, it seems useless to implement it now when site is not that busy.
